Vice President for College & Community Relations and Peace Week SWARTHMORE Committee Member Maurice Eldridge '61 takes part in the opening activities of Peace Week on Friday, April 22, 2005. The opening event consisted of an "Open Mic" and the painting of a peace mural. Participants included students, faculty members, administrators, alumni, parents, and community members from Swarthmore, Chester and other parts of the region.

Members of Swarthmore's dance group, Rhythm N Motion, perform at the "Students Vision of Peace" event. Following the dance performance, students in the Peace & Conflict Studies program presented their research and their vision of peace through writing.

Students, faculty, community members as well as Swarthmore College President Al Bloom and Vice President Maurice Eldridge '61 were mesmerized by the "Students Vision of Peace" event which featured students conveying their vision through dance and writing.

Pulitzer prize winning political cartoonist Signe Wilkinson of the Philadelphia Daily News gave a humorous and peaceful closing to the first annual Peace Week SWARTHMORE.

SAVE R US President & Founder and Peace Week SWARTHMORE Coordinator Brandon Lee Wolff '08 speaks at the beginning of the final event. Brandon provided a background of SAVE R US & Peace Week, thanked the many organizations and individuals who served on the Peace Week SWARTHMORE planning committee and shared the vision of expanding Peace Week to Bryn Mawr and Haverford colleges in the Spring of 2006.
